Villagers shaken by swingers' club plan.
Residents in a picturesque village have expressed anger at a local businessman's plans to open a swingers' club. Later this month Roger Stanbury is launching "Club Vanilla", a monthly adult party in a converted barn on his caravan park in Horsewell, Devon, complete with Jacuzzi, dance floor and "play areas". For a £45 entrance fee, adventurous couples can enjoy a cocktail and watch an "exotic floor show", avail themselves of free condoms and make use of large double beds in public rooms. Its website adds: "There's no need to be nervous, have a relaxing cocktail and speak to our friendly bar staff who will put you at ease." WHILE many of us struggle with rising living costs, some Australians are getting by without spending any money, turning other people's trash into dinner. Scavenging through commercial rubbish bins isn’t glamorous, but for a small section of society it’s a way of life. Growing trend There’s a small but growing group of well-educated city dwellers who are going through rubbish bins to get free stuff, according to a 2006 report by the Australia Institute. Pregnant Woman Shot by Boyfriend in Front of Children Dies.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A hospital spokeswoman says a pregnant Coventry woman has died just days after her boyfriend was accused of shooting her in front of their two children. A Hartford Hospital spokeswoman says 27-year-old Amanda Realie died Thursday morning. Doctors were not able to save her unborn child. State police Lt. J. The student, Aliza Shvarts, told three senior Yale University officials, including two deans, that she did not do the things she claimed in her art project, according to the statement. Marine's wife cleared of poisoning.
 SAN DIEGO -- A woman convicted of killing her Marine husband with arsenic to get insurance money to pay for breast implants was cleared Thursday after new tests showed no traces of poison. Car spins out of control, kills baby.
 Sergeant Dianne Simpson said a 24-year-old Perth man, who was earlier seen speeding in Thornlie, in Perth's southeast, clipped a car being driven by an elderly woman about 12.50pm today (WST). "He has then spun out of control and run into the side of a house,'' Sgt Simpson said. She said the mother was understood to have been outside the house with her 12-month-old daughter. The Holden Monaro struck them before hitting the brick wall of a neighbouring house. Homes destroyed by Texas wildfires.
ODESSA, Texas -- A wildfire burned at least six homes Thursday in west Texas and forced the evacuation of about 150 residences, the Texas Forest Service said. The fire has consumed about 50 acres, the agency said. At least one person was treated for breathing problems, city officials said.  LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles jury has convicted a second elderly woman of murdering a homeless man in an insurance scheme. The jury was deadlocked Thursday on another murder count and a conspiracy count against 75-year-old Olga Rutterschmidt. She was convicted of murdering Kenneth McDavid.
